how are lean are you?
yes, working your obliques can make your waist look wider.
Sup guys,
I've always done a lot of ab/oblique exercises in parts of my workouts, and have been happy w/ my gains. I am starting to think that my "love handles" might be due partly to muscle growth there. I want the V-Shaped torso so I am afraid my obliques are giving me that wider waist look..? Can this be? What are ya'll opinions?

Right now I'm at 11% BF, comming to the end of my bulking. I will be cutting near mid-april. I can feel (under the thin layer of fat) my obliques in the love handle area.
The wide look is probably just some fat on top of your obliques. I am sure it will go away as soon as you diet down a bit more. If you are concerned then just don't do any weighted oblique exercises. I was worried about this in the past as well and I just gave up on the weighted side bends and dieted a bit and the problem corrected it self.

Sure, that could be the problem, genetics also play a roll here as well.Originally posted by LiftHardGainBig

Same thing can happen to those that do a lot of squatting, over years they can/will develop "squatters but"
