I usually sleep on my side, and the past week or so i have been waking up and noticing that my sholder (usually the one that i fell asleep on) is a little stiff and aches a little. My concern is will it be bad if i go into the gym in the morning an work out. I assume that if i warm it up enough to get the blood flowing that it will be OK. Is this true?

Ya, warming up good should do it, if the cause of the pain is just sleeping on it. I have knee pain often so I started taking glucosomine and chondrin, I think it helps.

Do you currently work out at night?

I know if I workout at night, I sleep like crap and often wake up stiff. (aww maybe I'm just getting old)

No problem working out in the morning, just warm up those joints before you lift heavy.

i actually have been taking Glucosamine for quite some time now for my knees, and it really made a difference.

I wouldent actually say that it has pain, but it just aches and is stiff sometimes. and it is not the same shoulder. Depending on my schedule for the week, i will work weights in the morning or the afternoon, but i have not been able to see a relation to this.

The only thing that worries me about this is if it will leave me open to injury. If i dont workout in the morning, it usually goes away after i am at work for a while. I think i should be ok if i warm it up enough before i workout. But i am not 100% sure about this.

Talking

Stiff joints,

It would make them pretty hard to light if they weren't.................

No but seriously you need a good warm up and maybe lower the weight a little bit. Start doing 8-9 rep range instead of 5-6.

Thumbs up

I agree with the others. If you warm up adequately then you will be fine. On the other hand, for any kind of stiffness I found that WD40 works great! LOL

I am glad I read this post because I have woke up recently with my arm so asleep that I could not feel it. I could touch it and it would feel cold and lifeless and scare the crap out of me and I sat up in bed and I could feel the blood rushing in my arm. Now I know we have all had things go to sleep but I mean I had NO feeling left in my arm until I sat up. Weird!

Heh Charger, I've done that so many times, it doesn't even phase me. It was scary the first time though...
