this is what i'm wondering. after pressuring my brother for the last 2 and a half years to work out with me he has finnaly given in and deciding to sign up at the local gym. now my question is should he basicly do all of the workouts that i usually do, or is there some beginner's program he should follow. he pretty much relies on me for info since he is just starting.
Depends on his backtound, and althleticism. He definitely can't do what you do yet. There is a good chance however he can do many of the non-advanced exercises you do, but at a much lighter weight, for fewer sets and reps in a certain range!
I agree with DP, it will greatly depend on what kind of shape and and also his age to what he starts out with.
Just try to discourage him competing with you from the start or he could risk injury.
