Absolutely, I used to have back problems and then I started doing deadlifts and my back is great.
When doing them your back should never ever be rounded.
When I do rack pulls the bar is touching my shins, back is up, facing forward and basically stand up using my legs mostly, and back, arms, etc
Bent row is almost the same position, I just pull the weight into my upper abs.
Stiff leg you want to stick your butt out, not bend your back over.
