    Reg park's 5X5 program.....

    I know this guy that says " I'm loving it, getting stronger every week etc....."however, he saying that when he starts squatting his quads are on fire almost rt away, he's thinking of dropping the squats on wednesdays(I think from not allowing enough time to recover from workouts).......he's in the 1st phase of the program which is M-W-F and consists of the same excersises w/ same rep-scheme each day......bench,deadlift and squat.............I've read numerous times that deadlifting and squatting should be done on different days w/ enough time in between each. I know a lot of people who swear by this routine but w/ only 48hrs to fully recover before you train the same muscles?.....Just doesn't make sense.................thanks

    I had a similar problem. Was doing heavy squats twice a week and every time I started the squat workout my quads would burn and hurt. After a few sets it would get better but had this problem all the time. I went to doing squats once a week and replaced the other session with deadlifts and no more pain in the quads. Also weight went up quite a bit on squat and I was stuck there for a while. So my guess is he's over training. Larger muscles if worked hard need longer to recover.

    is this similar to strong lifts 5x5? Ive heard great things about it.
