Approximately 8 months ago i was squatting at the gym and injured my back. From then my back has been painful on and off. Last 2 months much worse. This last week ive stopped lifting all together. Ive been to a physio who has said ive injured my facet joint aroind t10 and this has made my left erector spinae go into spasm. Its the muscle that REALLY hurts. Hurts more inthe morning after sleeping. Anyone got any self help treatments?

Yes i have some advise, first of DO NOT sleep on your stomach. A great stretch to do in the morning is where you lay on your back, place one leg across your knee and pull the other leg towards your chest. Those two things gave me my life back after suffering 5 bulging disks in my lower back. Make sure you are stretching everything in and around your hips.
PM me if you want more detail on how I got over my back injury

T10 would put it at almost the bottom of the thoracic (ends at T12), a strange place for a injury from squats. those usually show up in the lower lumbar @ L1-L5.
do you do a lot of heavy ab work? if so you may want to balance out your direct ab training with direct stimulation of the lower back. could be a simple muscle imbalance.

no heavy ab work, odd place to strain it but that is roughly where it is, it's above my lowest rib by a rib or 2. i think as i was coming up i arched my back oddly, doc has prescribed me naproxen 1000mg per day, had some acupuncture and some other physio doesn't appear to be getting a lot better, directly after having treatment and for the rest of that day the muscle eases off and it feels a lot better, the next day i wake up and it's back....
any stetches that would be of use or supplements that might aid in recovery would be great. foam roller is a no no it seems to aggravate it unfortunately

Hi all
Back pain is increase day by day and my suggestion is that stretch your body before exercise. This is much better for health and bones also.

I was just getting ready to start my cycle and my back problems hit..again..I have two herniated disks..L4&5...they really havent bothered my too much for a while..then last week I was doing seating pulls and just happened I jumped up in weight about 40 lbs from what I usually do...and bam it hit.Im trying to dr myself back ..bought some capaisin liquid at CVS...but be careful..I had the liquid come out too fast as I was putting it on and it went down my a$$ crack and set me on FIRE...
