Do you view your gym as a second home? Very Short Questionnaire

Hello, I am carrying out a study on whether people view their gym as a second home and if they do, what in particular differentiates their views from people who don't view the gym as a second home. The results may add a further understanding to the meaning of ?home?, views on people's gyms and help gym owners in creating an environment which would be more appealing to novice gym users. It will only take 5 minutes, is completely confidential and does not ask any really personal questions. I am just looking for people to be honest as possible with regards to their gym.

Please take part and I look forward to the results

A second home? No, i see it more like a prostitutes hotel room. I wanna get in and out of there as fast as possible. I dont want to mingle, discuss placebo supplements, training techniques or stand there and look at anyone. 1000 yard stare right through everyone.

And i make sure my earphones are in, blasting to avoid all conversations.

I work out at home, I used to go the gym but I get sick of an hour workout taking 2.5 hrs of my night. I also despise waiting for some piece of equipment or spot to open up. I can totally focus at my home gym and most workouts including cleanup are under 1.25 hrs. Lastly I have under a $1000 in my setup and can do just about anything. That's less than 2 yrs membership at a gym. My gains have never been better either.

oh yeah, good luck with your survey
I'll get there or Die trying...

No where near a second home. The most I'd want to stay there would be an hour and half, including warm ups and cardio. Don't take showers there either. I have my home for that. I noticed that people that I see there all the time are the ones that stink the place up. Literally stink the place up.

I go to a bunch of gyms and none of them are like 'home' whatsoever. There are strangers there.

The gym is more like a place I go to clear my head and get rid of stress. I can leave everything at the door, zone out and lift. Its my Happy Gilmore style happy place. But a home? na never thought of a gym as a second home except maybe the one I was working at as a teen, cause it was a small local one that I put in the most hours at.

^ This right here! Yes...my happy place. I like that! Home...no, home is were I sit on my ass watch tv and LHJO when the wife won't put out. The gym though, I do feel, is were I really truly fit in though. When I am in there, I'm on top of the world and feel like a machine/beast.

If you are not going to the gym because its just not homely enough, chances are that once the local gym becomes more "appealing" you'll find another excuse not to go. The last thing we need are more gyms that share mission statements with planet fitness.

The gym is definitely a second home for me for several reasons...I grew up in gyms when i was a kid in NYC...I have been training MMA since 1990 and fought many times...Ive been lifting most of my adult life...I love the atmosphere of the gym, the vibe, the sounds, even the smell...I even went and hung around the gym during some of my injuries and helped younger fighters training for fights, and helped alot of weight lifters...I dont mind talking and socialising in the gym, i can do it and still get serious during my workouts when i have to...I still get great results while helping others reach their goals......Another big reason is i moved out into the woods on 20 acres 4 years ago...I live off the grid...Solar power, well water, and woodstove for heat...I love this life but the gym offeres some nice conveniences that i dont have at my little cabin like hot showers, hot tubs, suanas, etc...So ya the gym is my home away from home and i love it!

Not a second home for me. Like some other's here, my gym is here at home. It is a lot more efficient for me that way. I have no membership cost and I can do everything I ca do at a gym.

I workout almost everyday, but I get in there and workout with high intensity from anywhere from an hr to 2 hrs max. I don't consider it my second home, but it is a huge part of my life.
