Left Side Weaker

My left side is weaker than my right. Is this normal? Can I do something about it?

To a point its absolutely normal. Dont do more reps or weight with your right, they should even out a little as time goes on. If you want you can add a static hold at the end of your last rep for your left side (dumbells), etc

Usually if youre right handed, you are in theory a left brained person - and the left side of the body will be less coordinated and not as strong.

Seems wierd that it works that way, but for whatever reason thats how it is.

I'm right handed... and in some exercises my left arm is stronger. Its not as full as my right arm, the bicep is a tad smaller... but it is a touch stronger and can generally do more reps. Possibly because due to my right being more coordinated I can isolate the muscle better during the curl, etc. Not sure exactly.

We also tend to generally jump off the same leg I think. Not sure which one I do, but I noticed it a while back when jumping fences.

my left bicep is a tad smaller than my right too. it's definitely not as full. same goes for my left leg. my left arm also tends to feel stronger doing dumbell curls. i think it does have something to do with coordination, but i also think it has to do with holding things in my left hand while keeping my right hand free for everyday things.

My husband is a blacksmith who uses an old fashion handcranked forgeblower to stoke the coals with. Being right handed, he hammers with that arm. Muscle buildup is abit different in his back and arms because of this. However, it depends on which side is stronger. His grip with the left is certainly stronger because of holding the tongs while hammering the steel blades out (historial weaponry). In other moving positions, both of his arms are about equal because of his work.

Our son is noticing the difference in his musculature since starting to help his father out in the shop. He has his own forge setup, using a handcranked forge like his Dad's.

I help out in the shop by decorating the weaponry with handcut piercework. Because all I do is hold down the pieces with my left, my right arm has built up more because of sawing. Being righthanded anyway, my left arm was weaker when I started lifting 8 months ago. While lifting, I would workout a couple of more reps with my left to help bring up its' strength closer while using dbls. Or "push" abit harder with the left while doing Bench presses or inclines. So far it has worked.

My instructor told me, a long time ago, your weaker side will eventually catch up.
