Find a 4 way neck machine, thats the only thing that will give you direct work. Shrugs dont seem to work my neck that much, the only thing other than a 4 way that give me any stimulation are lateral raises (delts).

However, you need to use a neck machine to get a real direct workout, and all four sides. There is no machine that I know of in gyms for rotation though, which is another set of muscles. Twist movements are rather dangerous anyway.

Google finds darn near everything They are expensive. Next choice would be a head strap but I hate them, I have one and it just bites into my brain hard, and without a linear reistance weight stack, its near worthless. If you wear a hat, and keep it from moving by using your hands to hold it in place, its bearable.

4-way machine costs about $599+

Like an old head strap, uncomfortable as all hell, wants to pull the skin right off your head. Try using that with 180-360 pounds and see how wonderfull it feels.

Oh, your talking trapezius maximus. Search around www.exrx.net

Primarily shoulder shrugs, secondary excersize upright rows.

Thats an individual thing, mine are very stubborn. I do 5-6 sets, make sure your doing them fairly strictly. I switch up a bit between heavy/light, but I am between 10-15 reps honestly, if I go to heavy I can't pull up to "my ears" too well and what I'm doing now seems to be working for the most part.

First priority is diet, supplements or not - diet is where its at. Muscles are meat, meat is protein - therefore to build more meat you need the food Hit up the diet forum and surf around...

1g per pound as a start, and make sure to spread it through the day - because generally it wont sit in the system forever. Eventually gets absorbed/used, and you need a constant delivery, which is why people eat every ~3 hours.

For back neck
Sit in a chair with the neck strengthener straps facing forward; weights between your legs. Slowly lower and rais your head.
For front neck
Sit in a chair with the neck strengthener straps behind you with the weights behind you; you'll have to lean back a little. Slowly raise and lower you head.
For side.
Lay across bench on your side with the neck strengthenerstraps facing the floor. Slowly raise and lower your head.
Yes it is uncomfortable as hell but it isn't $599.00

If u can find a 4-way, they work wonders. I have been using one for only a couple months now and have seen great results....

We had no neck machine in highschool, but what we used to do for football, is you get somone to sit behind you with a towel, and hold your head a certain way with the towel. You then pull on the towel to create resistance, much like the neck machine.

Lift hard, or go home!
Zed : Bring out the Gimp.
Maynard : But the Gimp's sleeping.
Zed : Well, I guess you're gonna have to go wake him up now, won't you?

Honestly I would not want to live without the neck machine. I was using 415 on the neck machine and I never went over 50 with the head strap, even holding it in place with my hands, I hate it.

When I wrestled, we used to put a folded up towell on the floor and put our head on it. Then you lift your arms off the ground and roll from side to side(head and feet touching ground only). This is an excellent way to build your neck, but untill your strong enough to do it like this use your arms for support.
