Don't apologize, we were all beginners once.
pull ups are when you are haning from a pole and you actually just pull yourself up so that you chin cimes up over the bar. Pull downs are kind of like pull ups except you are seated on a bench and you are pulling a bar down to you which is pulling a cable over a pully which is lifting a weight stack from the ground.. If you don't have dumbells then you probably don't have access to a pull down machine so don't worry about it. You can buy a pull up bar to go in the doorway of your room at most sporting goods stores. Front raises are when you hold a barbell or dumbells and keeping your arms straight you raise the weight up infront of you body until your arms are parallel with the floor. Side raises are performed with sumbells and the weight is raised from your sides again up until your arm is paralell with the floor. (arms straight here also). exrx.net is a great web page with pictures of exercise and explanations...keep asking questions and learn and much as you can. peace, Patrick |
