    Red face dumb gains

this post is about chest and shoulder presses
    1st chest

i switch every week from dumbell flat to barbell flat and then barbell incline to dumbell incline - so week 1 dumbell flat incline bar .. week 2 flat bar incline dumbell -- 4 sets of each each week

my dumbells - i get gains.. barbell - not so much....
    todays workout went like this
    flat barbell
    145x11, 155x8, 165x5, 175x3 ..
    incline dumbell
    55x10, 60x8, 65x6, 70x3-4

on flat bench with dumbells i can do (last week)
    60x12, 65x8, 70x6, 75x4
    incline bar about
    135x9, 140x7, 145x5, 150x4

i was wondering how i could change this to help get gains with the bar.... and doesnt it seem weird.. it seems that relative to other p[eople with similar workouts i can do not as much with the bar, but much more with dumbells... for both incline and bar

ha and then shoulders... same situation

i can do 115 (35's) shoulder press like 8 times...
but i can do 60's 6 times about (both pyramiding up)

and it seems people who can do more with the barbell, cant do nearly as much as i can with dumbells ... any ideas

is there some kind of chart that shows .. if you can 135 on bench 10 times, how much you can expect you can do with dumbells if the form is good and the same?

Not only does it not mention dumbells, but I do not believe in such a chart. I know a very small chinese guy who dumbell presses 90s for his reps, yet he only benches about 165. I bench into the low 300s, but once I get off the flat bench I rarely touch anything over 105 (I only do incline dumbells lately).

that little chinese guy is crazy.... but i guess my kind of bench problems arent that out of the blue... ive red that article before - helped me by keeping my shoulder blades close together... i just dont understand how some kids who i can shoulder press more then (dumbells and barbell) , my triceps are much stronger than, can do alot more on inlcine and flat dumbell presses, but then cant bar bench nearly as much... troubling..

I'm stronger with the bar except for curls. I've always been stronger with DB curls than with bar curls.

    my bench never goes anywhere

    the most i ever do is 45's + 10's... so yeah, 155 i guess

i make slow gains for other chest exercises, just never really bench...

there are guys WAY smaller than me that can bench at least 185

bench press is weird like that for some reason... i don't let it bother me though as i'm quite happy with my chest and i make gains for probably every other exercise i do at the gym... just have never been able to bench all that much for some reason
