    Angry Soreness in joints

    Hey guys-

I know I haven't lifted in like 4 months, but after my first workout yesterday, my knees and elbows are really sore. Elbows hurt on the back of the upper arm and knees just in general. Is this normal? Did I really get that out of shape that quickly? I expected my muscles to be a little sore, but not my joints.

Here's my journal if you want to check out what I've been doing.
highly detailed journal, more for me than you

did you work out real heavy? if so your joints are not used to that.

    you can try some glucosamine/chondroitin.

Glucosime/chond will take a few weeks to a month to really start to become effective - but they are terrific long term continuous joint care. If you are just starting I'd recommend going moderate weight high rep (15-20 reps) for the first week or so till you got the tendons/legaments stretched out and getting use to having to work again. My guess is that as your muscles and tendons cool off they are constricting and tightening and putting more static pressure on the joints. This is probably also putting pressure on the joints at a new angle and causing the join to sit slightly different in the socket area (not in the old couch potato grove any more). Plus you are probably also feeling some inflamation - which is very normal when you restart into bb after a long absence. So, I'd recommend you also take a very good anti-ox formula containing vitamins A C E and r-ALA. Also take in some essential fats which are also good anti-inflamatories in and of themselves. This simple supplimentation helped me enormously.

Thanks guys. I don't think I went too heavy, but I may have for being in "couch potato" mode for 4 months. Keep in mind I really only lifted for 3 months in my life before that, so I guess it's to be expected. I'll just suck it up and let my body get used to it.
