I can't do squats!

It's not a form issue, it's my knees. The pain!!

What is good in place of squats?

My knees act up quite a bit too. Tell me, do you any warm up exercises BEFORE you start your squats? If squats are completely out of the question, blast the crap out of them on the leg press.

I do run-in-place and lunges to warm up.

Lunges probably aren't the best way to warm up already tender knees. I think the source of my problem are heavy lunges in my younger days. I would go with about 4 sets of leg extensions with pretty high reps...25 rep range. Increasing the weight as you go. No need to go real heavy. The idea is to get some blood flowing and warm up the knees. I stretch AFTER i do the four warmup sets, not before. Use good form and no lazy swinging the weight crap. Get a good squeeze and at the top and do not hyperextend.

Prophet, very possible.

Before I hit the SQUAT rack -- I warm-up on the treadmill for about 5 min, stretch lightly, 2 sets of 50 reps and strech again.

Pretty much the same as you B-OUT.

Prophet, more than likely is was the Deadlifts

Hell I never do em and my quads are pretty damn big. I get so much more out of leg press and hack squats that I doubt I will ever do a regular squat again!

I do change my leg press angle often and also do them one leg at a time every other workout...those are thigh killers!!

I still squat, though what go pro is talking about is a great way to bring up weak points on the quads. I like a little deeper than normal squats and ive never had a problem

I dont think lunges are good for the knees at all. I get a minor stimulus of some kind in my right knee if I go heavy on the squatting frequently, I also have a left elbow problem with triceps work, I work around it and with it as best I can knowing when and where it starts to act up.
