Arms getting to big
For the past 4 weeks I have been doing low rep high weight workouts and my biceps/triceps are huge 13.5 in. I plan on going back to a high rep low weight workout. Will this help reduce the size of my arms or should I stop bicep/tricep exercise all together for a while.
Thanks |

If you want to reduce the size of the muscle dont work them so hard, try a lighter weight and dont push yourself. It wont have much of anything to do with bodyfat or water retention though.

A few months ago I decided to bring down my legs. so I did and still do a workout that has been very successful. The key is that I stick to 20 reps and do supersets and trisets, but I also still go to failure. I successfully shrunk my legs over 2.5 inches with this technique and my legs didn't get fat and I still have plenty of muscular definition. I was really worried about legs getting flabby because thats typical when you don't do it right.

I'll be glad to take some of your arm size...

Depends on the rest of your body of measurements of course. My arms are 15.5 and I'm trying to get them to 16.5+ And what's wrong with having some size on your arms? Top body builders are over 20".

I build muscle real easy. I only wish that I could lose fat as easy. My long sleeve shirts are getting tight around my bicep area so I'm wanting to reduce them before winter hits.

Losing fat is the toughest job.Welcome to the club. All I can say is reduce your calories from fat and carbs and up your cardio.Oh Yea and drink plenty of water. You just have to work with it on a day to day basis.I often preprogram myself the night before to stick with the days diet plan but am flexible depending on my needs.
I used to train specifically for surfing and did lots of light to moderate weights at high reps and just stayed strong without to bulk. Now I'm lifting heavy at lower reps to BB. So don't stop exercising any group.Keep it toned. I really think you need to focus on your diet.Count carbs, fat,and calories. Some people can handle more things like oatmeal, sweet potato's and Banana's and others can't.I personally can't so I have to limit them fairly strictly.Again, work with your body and find the balance.Big job but challenging, right? |

kdwa1 - please search as the advice that has already been told to her. She did too much cardio and didn't eat enough healthy carbs and fats. She lost 4 pounds of muscle because of this type of advice.
RNR - Increase your reps and lower your poundage. Follow the Carb Cycling as you have planned and DO NOT INCREASE YOUR CARDIO! ![]() |

Jodi,Sounds to me that she wants to lose both fat and muscle from her comment on size.I'm not sure how much cardio she does but I think most would agree that if we wants to lose "size" we need cardio in addition to a reduction of fats and carbs.
From your previous posts I know your not too into cardio, doesn't mean others aren't and they should back off so much? I know guys that do heavy carbs like 1,000 g's and do cardio for 45 minutes +.After all it is good for your heart. On a final note I'd say everyones body is different, right? Different goals. Not everyone wants the muscle like us. I do however agree with the carb cycling concept. |

She does want muscle, not huge but she was quite upset about losing 4 pounds of muscle. She was doing cardio everyday sometimes twice a day. I've explained to her to do cardio 3 times a week instead. If you have seen her diet before you would understand. She needs healthy fats and healthy carbs and better protein sources. The carb cycling diet will work well for her but she does not need as much cardio as she was doing and I think 2 HIIT sessions and 1 Traditional cardio per week is plenty for her.

I did cardio once (rather light) for an hour a day for 5 days straight and lost around 1/4" on my arms, screw that.

I know, NO increase in cardio. I plan to start the carb cycling plan on Sept 21st. I also plan to change my workout at that time to a lower weight high rep type workout. On Sept 17th I am going to get my body fat tested again. I should see if I was able to gain any of my muscle back. I plan on startin a journal on the 21st to track all this.
Thanks for all the help |

Sounds right RnRgirl,I didn't see your previous threads so was unaware of your diet and goals.Hope you can find the right formula.
Mudge that's alot of cardio and I agree it's too much,I was just using an example.I only do 15 minutes after weights. Jodi, good advice as usual.Tks for correcting me. |

LOL! I'm not correcting you. I just know what she was doing prior to this and what her goals are and I just didn't want her to get confused with different advice.
