Cortisol and HIIT

Gotta question. You shouldn't lift weights for over an hour right? Because your cortisol levels rise and it is counterproductive. What if your lifting takes you to 50min. Would it hurt to still do 20 min of HIIT training then or ab work? Or should everything, including cardio work be under an hour?

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

If you immediately take in a post workout carb/protein shake after your cardio, you should still be able to offset the rise in cortisol. However, if you train for 50 minutes, then do 20 min of cardio, and then take 30 minutes to get home and make a shake, you will definitely go catabolic! Get that shake in a SOON as possible, and make sure it is simple carbs and whey protein for quick uptake!
