My goal is to get stronger. I don't really care about having big muscles. If I shouldn't do my upper body in one day how should I split it up?
    Thanks

depending on whether you are just starting out or not doing an upperbody one day lower body another day split can work for you. But I would go with a three day split like:

    mon-upper
    wed-lower
    fri-upper
    sat/sun-rest

if you really want to go to the gym to do just abs then do it..........lol

But I would just do abs with upper body so that I don't have to make another trip to the gym.

Well, I wasn't really going to make another trip to the gym, I was going to do them at my home gym.
Sortov off topic, but what muscle in the upper body contribute to power and upper body strength most?

Lift heavy man. You say you don't care about big muscles, but if you get stronger, your muscles will naturally get bigger...besides, it's fun to have big muscles!
