30lbs of muscle in 19 years?? WTF?

Dave goodin: "Gaining muscular size without drugs happens slowly. Sometimes it happens so slowly that you don't really see it because you look at yourself in the mirror everyday. In 19 years of bodybuilding training I've put on about 30 lbs. of muscle. That's less than
2 lbs per year on the average. I compared notes with another friend, Kirby Sams, who is a WNBF Pro. He's put on about the same amount of muscle in about the same amount of time."

It cannot be THAT hard naturally, can it?

it's going to be different for everyone, but that sounds realistic for a completely natural bodybuilder.

assuming that we're talking "solid LBM", not any fat/water gain.

Depending on when you start, I have heard of 15-16 pounds or so in a year naturally, not certainly every single year.

If you dont know diet though then gains are going to be based on luck of you actually eating almost like you should.

How close to death do you want to get? I have heard of a short guy who did 70 pounds in a year, died of recreational drug use. That was 70 LEAN pounds, he was a competitor.

This guy is talking about after you're already huge I beleive. When you first start out it's easy. I gained 35 fat free lbs. in 10 months- Creatine, protein, and natural test levels still rising.
    back for the first time....

no, its all natural, i just aim for about 2 solid lbs of muscle on each month. i dont take steriods and i never will, but i use GNC 100% whey protein shakes. i usually take shakes of 80 grams of protein or more each and every day for just 1 shake. i usually try to take in 250-300 grams total in the day throughout my 5 meals each day. i think i can make 180 or so by next summer and it will hopefully be all muscle.

Dude if your taking in 80g protein in a single shake you should be dealing with 500g protein a day, your wasting it IMO by taking it so much. You need to spread it evenly, period. Much of that protein is just being converted for use as energy.

500? not that much a day, i figure anywhere from 250-300 and maybe 350 maximum, and i should say i take it every day i workout.. which is 4 days a week and on saturday and sunday i might take a shake with just 30 or 40 grams in it. why does 30 lbs of muscle sound hard to reach in 1 year ST2?? i would think that if you worked hard, ate the right food and rested, then 30 lbs is well withing reach in 1 year. that is a liitle more than 2 lbs of muscle each month average so i think i can do it.

im sure mostly anyone could gain 50 lbs in one year if they worked hard enough. 4 lbs of muscle each month doesnt sound that hard to believe. the right supplements help tremendously for me.
