what do you mean natural workouts, using weights isn't natural or something? You sound ridiculous bro, you can't have a good WO IMO just doing situps. There IS a reason people engage in PROGRESSIVE RESISTENCE training. situps and pushups do not offfer progressive resistence which means that a week of pushups and you will plateau, and that is assuming that you have never lifted a weight in your life, then you may get a pump from it, maybe. How beneficial can a pushups be when people who never do them can bang out 50 reps or so. Waste of time man. I don't know what your reason for noto going to a gym is but suck it up and start hittin' the weights, fuck all that other shit.
PS. welcome to IM bro
My bad, I didn't realize your were so young. have your dad or somebody take you into a gym with him and teach you, nothing wrong with beginning to weight training at your age, are you 11? Ther should be some type of youth center or YMCA you can go to around. that is a good time to start learning movements like the squat and bench and other lifts like that. just remember to have correct form and take it nice and easy.
there is nothing wrong with beginning training at an early age like 11, just as long as he paces himself and is smart! It will not stunt your growth and I would like to see some facts that prove otherwise
Actually i have heard and read (forgot from where) that lifting before reaching adolescense can stunt your growth....
You guys ever see that little kid on Howard Stern. The "pound for pound strongest man on earth ". The kid weighs like 50lbs and benches 200! He's only like 10 years old or something. They actually had a doctor on Stern like the next show who commented that the boy will defintiely not reach his full height potential due to lifting prematurely....
You're a funny guy, Sully, I like you. Dat's why I'm going to kill you lahst.
not true bro, trust me. Now there ARE things that you can do as a kid in the weight room that aren't going to be good for you but there is nothing wrong with beginning to weight train lightly at his age, shit the earlier the better. If your that young and you are using then that can force your plates to seal over and fuse, disallowing further growth, but just weight training, give me some facts to back up those claims!
for your age just play around, eat alot and do as many pushups and pullups you can whenever you can. Try getting into martial arts or gymnastics to get your body mechanics up, this will give you a jump on people that you will never lose. Don't worry about weights right now.
regardless of stunting his growth or not, he doesn't need to be lifting at 11 anyway.. he'd be better off waiting for his body to mature.. i started lifting (bench, military, curls) at 10 and i was a big kid BUT you wouldn't maintain it for long anyway.. i hit puberty by 11 and i ended up being 6'
i think only exercises that put stress on your back (i.e. squats) will stunt you.. there are also test out which say lifting will not stunt growth at all.. but at 11, do what kids do and lift when you're a little maturer
it's an 'everywhere' thing.. little guys have a lot less muscle to pack on and compounds are usually easier because they go shorter distances (deads, squat, bench).. short and stout
but i doubt them being short in the first place is a result of lifting too early in their lives
maybe many of these guys started lifting too early? im glad i just thought it was the many italian people around here..lol (being one myself, but im 6 foot)
