overhead presses

what part of the shoulder does close grip overhead presses work rather than wide grip press overhead?

I may be wrong, but I do not see any difference between normal and narrow grip presses.

I would say more triceps heavy, otherwise no real difference. Going too close on the grip for an overhead press is probably asking for trouble though IMO.

a closer grip overhead press is more of a movement in the sagital plane (shoulder flexion). The muscles being worked are:
-anterior deltoid
-the long head of biceps brachii
-coracobrachiallis
-the clavicular portion of pectoralis major

wide grip overhead press is more of a movement in the frontal plane (shoulder abduction). The muscles being worked are:
-supraspinatus (one of the four roator cuff muscles)
-all three heads of the deltiod (with the prime focus bieng the middle head)
-the long head of biceps brachii also assists

so, there is a slight difference. Use them both. They are both effective. Another way to hit the sagital plane in an overhead press is to use a reverse grip.

I was going to mention reverse grip presses, haven't done those in forever
