    How NOT to get big?

Hello all, im just started working out and changing my diet. im 5'11 and about 145lb. I am in good shape, but not a lot of muscle mass.

I have a set image im going for. If you read Mens Health you know the look im going for. The more lean type.

My question is how do i workout to get that shape and not the "huge" look? Do i eat my 6 meals and lots of cals till i reach my "ideal" shape, then how do i workout and eat so i keep my look without getting bigger?
How much cardio should i do for this look? and is it ok to do it after my workout?

    Thanks for helping a starter.

Stay natural, clean up the diet, you will not get huge unless you are a genetic freak.

I have come across underwear models that do winstrol, and a regular old guy doing local modeling who was a gear user.

When happy with your size, dont add more weight to your sets, stick to the same weight and same reps.

    I never understand this...

It is so difficult to get big, even if you do everything correctly it's still difficult to do naturally and very few ever even get "big". the reality of it is that naturally you will only get so far anyway and it takes years of hard work to do.

but my basic answer would be never go below 12 reps.

This is more something you hear from women, its NOT EASY to get big unless you are a freak! In which case you already are so freaking built that you probably are used to it.

I am much too big guys... my muscles scare small children and little cute puppy dogs... please advise... I eat only Fast Food, and twice a day, consuming 3000 calories each sitting... I workout on the treadmill 1-2 times a week for 10 minutes... please tell me how I can decrease the huge ripped muscular development that my body has produced... PS my girlfriend said my PEN!$ is also too big... do you know how i can shrink it a few inches?

    5'11 and 145 pounds....that's borderline anorexic.
The last thing you should be worrying about is getting big.

Your primary motive for taking up weights seems to be to get a certain "look". You mention that word repeatedly in your post. Don't get me wrong , looks can be a strong motivator but if it's the only motivator then I suspect that in about 3 months you will grow tired and annoyed with the work you have to put in and revert to the stringbean lifestyle.

Also, most pictures we see in magazines are so doctored and fake that it's beyond ridiculous. Good luck trying to live up to that.

One of the main reasons most of us lift weights is to somehow get bigger and stronger. That's how muscles naturally react to resistance.

If you don't want to get big or strong, you have little business with weights. Don't waste your time. Take up aerobics, swimming , running or needlepoint.

    have fun.

    ROFL!

'how do i keep my look without getting bigger'?

it ain't hard! but unless you keep pushing yourself you'll get smaller

them mens health guys are not more lean than muscular!, they are BIG muscular guys that have got ripped/cut up! big muscles with low BF%.... they probably would struggle to put on much more natural muscle than they have

I think you put the wrong link up... you should be aiming for 'runners world' if you don't want to get big! not a mens fitness mag, i've seen shoots on tv and they are bulked up guys man!

    peace

not only that but if your job is to have the "look" and be fit I dont think its hard. I would look like a monster if someone paid me to. its just like my wife telling me she wants to look like brittany spears . I tell her the same thing . if someone has thousands of dollars in front of you . you will have the" look "too . I just work out for myself and to get as strong as humanly possible

    i wanna look like 2pac

dose that mean if someone paid me a decent wage i could get millions of pounds/dollars worth of sugery, look all thugged out and look like him? hell no

okay, same goes for the amount of muscle and how big you are, if someone paid me to look like Arnold I could not do it

money can't buy muscle or fitness! might buy some flashy clothes so you can dress like a famous person and get ya hair done but thats as far as it goes

unless your broke money is not a factor in getting fit/big
