Rack deadlifts
I was going to explain it but that sounds really good like that. Why do you want to eliminate the legs in the lift? It is sometimes good b/c you can get use to heavier weight if you goal is to go heavy.

For those that want to concentrate on back. Most people seem to put the pins about knee height.

It will also help to increase your gripping strength. I can lift more doing rack deads than I can doing regular deads.
so bring the bar down to about knee height.. sounds easy enough ..
thanks

um I dont know if you are clear on this, you do these in a squat rack and move the bars on each side of the rack to your knee height when you are in position and put the bar there and only lift that much.
Gary
I use the rack as a way to increase my deadlifts. Get to 200lbs on one level then drop to a lower one and start all over again. Its a great way to build strength to me since my lower back isn't all that stronge.
Put Up or Shut Up
do i have to do it in a squat rack.. i could do it freely couldnt i .. looking in the mirror and when it gets down to knee height .. lift away?

The reason for a rack is because in a regular deadlift, the weight is already moving by the time you hit your back, hence giving you momentum to start with. The rack removes this momentum from the equation.Originally posted by X Ring

If sense were common, everyone would have it.

that and it removes the legs, I would say most injury occurs below where the rack is, a way to strenghten the back and something to add to your back work out but not a replacement for full deads
Gary
Precisely.

I like to let it drop after my reps, holding it mid air with that much weight would suck, you may as well do SLDL.Originally posted by jadakris31
