    lateral raise or front raise?

what would u prefer for middle deltoid?
lateral rise is compound ...and make use of biceps..i think...and we can work out with heavier weights than front raise...
    at least i think so...

i def do more for front than side lateral.. also, i never feel my biceps working on either.. front is not necessary to do since you get enough work from shoulder/military press (that's if you do them).. i do side and rear

If you want the side deltoid, then do side lateral raises. It doesn't really use biceps, keep your arm straight.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

ok.. i believe upright row would work side delts.. if you're already doing lateral raises for side delts, then you prolly don't need to do upright rows.. and to pick between the 2, i'd pick lateral raises

what are the best exercises to create separation between shoulder and arms? or is this solely a matter of cutting?

presses will mainly develop the front delts.. you need lateral raises or upright row (althought i don't like these) to develop the sides.. this will help seperate the delts from the other arm muscles as well as give you more width up top (v taper)
