Home Gym Equipment
I was wondering if anybody owns/owned the Ironmaster Quick/Change Dumbell system. If so, were they pleased with it, how well did it perform at higher weights (say 75lbs and above) and would they recommend it to a friend - Thanks.

I find them kinda clunky and expensive.
I'd much rather use traditional dumbells. At home I use a vertical dumbell rack with 7 pairs of dumbells (each pair a different weight). Depending on the exercise I'm doing and the weight I need, I just walk over to the rack and grab a pair ,do my set and then grab a heavier or lighter pair as needed. No fussing with collars of any kind and it's very fast. |

Obviously having the fixed dumbbells would be best, but since I am talking about poundage 70-100 pounds, I am not sure they would even fit on a vertical tree, but they are also not that much cheaper than the Ironmaster...
I guess I was hoping that you could share a little more detail about the Ironmaster...did they feel like they were loose or did they feel solid? Did you find that you could do everything with them or did they feel like they were limiting somehow? Thanks. |

it's hard to explain. They're bulky and feel kind of awkward. If you 've been lifting dumbells for years I think it will be hard to get used to the Ironmasters.
You should definately try before you buy. you could always get a horizontal weight rack and some fixed dumbells in the range you want. |

You may want to investigate PowerBlocks. I have a set (5-85). They take up less room and are far more cheaper than buying a pair of each weight. They have a set that is 10-120 lb. I have used my set for the last 6 years and they are the best.

if space is an issue for you then you may want to invest in powerblocks.
