    Wrestling.

Just started wrestling, and I've been sorer than ever. Do you think I would need to do much weight lifting to stay in shape.

welcome to my hell!! i wrestled for 4 years, got good, but got sooooooooo sick of cutting weight (im talking like 8lbs of water weight overnight) i would run MILES UPON MILES in like 3 winter coats and rain jackets and i didnt drink water at all. wow i almost died a couple times. wrestling is a sick sport, as long as you dont cut weight. go at your natural weight, or one that is close, or esle your season will feel endless. peace - hans

Wrestling gives you a goood ass workout. I didn't lift much during wrestling last year... thats why I'm not wrestling.

Naw dude, it is OK to not really lift during the season. It is so demanding on the body with that much wrestling everyday, and then tryign to throw weight training on top of that. Focus on getting in wrestling shape and don't worry about training until teh seaon is over. You aren't possibly going to gain much muscle while doing all that aerobic exercise. Let your body rest and get in great endurance shape, which is much more important than strength at teh moment. You should be concerned with weight training in the offseason, taht is when you make the gains for wrestlin. Most of teh time you are cutting down to make weight anyway right

Heres something my pops use to do way back when he use to wrestle. He use to go to the showers and put them on all as hot as could be and run in the showers with like a scuba suit on rite before the match to cut weight. Once he lost the water weight he would get weighed in, he would eat oranges like mad for energy. Not sure if you want to do this but thats what he use to do and he use to kick ass, went states all 4 years. But back in the day it was a different game heh.

my season just got over with, had bout the same hours u did of practice.I wouldent try to lift if i was u cuz like gr81 said wrestling practice is usually so damanding on the body most people are usually to tired to do anything els.and wrestling will make your overall body strength skyrocket because your working out muscles uv never worked out before,Its kinda like swimming u use almost every muscle in the body
Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: A desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.

I used to wrestle...GREAT fucking workout If you're not too sore or tired you could try to workout aside from wrestling but I wouldn't overtrain yourself.
