    knee injury doing squats

    I was working my legs about 2 weeks ago doing squats, I felt great but my right knee swoll up and got stifffor a few days. I iced my knee and took that week off for legs. Then this week I started working the legs lightly on monday, got just a little swelling but after ice and heat it went down that night.To day I worked my legs again and I've got a little swelling but now my knee is a little stiff again. I've only been lifting for about 7 months and I'm kinda understanding the importance of proper form and such. I weigh 165 and I work with about 200 for about 6 to 8 sets of 10 reps each. Please any suggestions HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Well, my advice is going to be the obvious...rest the knee longer and when you start training legs again start out very light and slowly work back up to your original weights over the course over several weeks.

    If the problem continues see a specialist.

    Thanks Prince, Can you suggest any way that I may be able to keep my strength up and not lose the muscle that I've gotten. Maybe a few other excerises . Big thanks , Mad props!

    Mikhal:

    swelling is usually a sign of injury to an area.
    You are either using improper form of lifting too much weight on your squats.

    Don't lift thru pain. Wait til the pain and swelling go away .
    Learn proper technique with light weight 1st.

    Not if your knee is injured, rest it until the swelling subsides. Some injuries you can work around, but it's kind of difficult to work around a knee injury without causing further damage.

    Thanks everybody, I think that I get the message, COOL THE FUCK OUT! right? Well since my last post I took Prince's advice went to see a friend who happens to be a doctor and he said that I over stressed the tendon by trying to squat too low , I should be straight in a couple of weeks. I guess strecthing my leg may be a cool thing at this point.
