    # of dips?

    Hi

I saw an ad for a "Strength contest" in the gym. One of the events includes # of max dips in a weight class. I'm in the 75-80kg class (165lbs or so).

I was wondering what's a good rep range to shoot for? I mean, I've never seen anyone do dips for max... I can do 8 or so (8 seconds up, 10 down), I imagine I can do many more if I do them quickly, but I wonder how many should I do to break records...

The contest is for Dec 15, I guess I have some time to train a bit... Any advice?

In highschool I used to be able to do close to 50 dips, then I started working legs and it was all over. (too much extra weight)
