    Deadlift max

Okay, I just weighted in at 160. I'm 5,9 so of course I have a lanky build, just dead lifted 302lbs. So tell me. Is that good. I mean I think it is but I don't know much about dead lifts and maxing out on them.

    When you say max, I assume you mean 1 rep. I never max out, so I'm not too sure. I deadlift 255 x 5. I'm 5'6, 160lbs.

Man dedlifting and powercleans are my favorite. I weight 245lbs and my DL max is 555lbs from 2 weeks ago with a DL suit, without a DL suit I got 530lbs same day, yup it’s my high school record, last record was 505lbs. For a guy thats 160 I don't think 305lbs is too bad.

Form man form. At the end of summer vacations when I maxed out I tried to get up 555lbs, I would get it off the floor almost up to my knees before I would start to lean forward and eventually fall forward, so that day I only for 535lbs. Keep in mind that was with a DL suit so I got some help from it. I started working on fixing that. Looking a little higher, at the ceiling, it brings my ass down, also a wider form and also try to lean back a little at the same time I was pulling the weight up. And on my last attempt I got the 555lbs. When you start deadlifting heavy form makes the difference, always work on a good form with light weight or heavy weight, by the time you come about maxing out it will be natural for you.

My current 1 RM is 465 at a bodyweight of 215-217. That's without a DL suit, straps, or belt. I do use chalk.

Damn that’s a lot of weight for a man only 190lbs for 4 reps. Does he bounces the weight of the floor or comes to a complete stop after each rep?

Last year a kid at my school got the dead lift record for his weight in the state (might have been age too, I don't know). He was 215 I think and got up 605. I don't want to talk about my deadlift though

^^good is when you make strides in your personal record bro. You can't compare yourself to other people when it comes to strength b/c you will always feel like you aren't good enough. There will always be lots of people much stronger then you, just as there are people that can't lift as much as you. It is all relative. You have to just work hard and if you strength increases b/c of that hard work, then be proud. There are kids at 160 deadlifting over 600 and shit somewhere out there, are you gonna compare yourself to them. Ya know what I am saying. BB is an individual sport.

imo, it's not about weight, but the physique the weight allows you to develop, i know alot of people here disagree with me, but your deadlift improvements should show some physical results...

it isn't necessarily to agree or disagree with. It just depends what a persons goals are. If strength is their goal then the weight does matter. Generally people who are deadlifting care about their strength b/c it is a powerlifting exercise.

Very well said...Still, idiots will often rip into kids who aren't very strong.

The way I see it though is that just because someone is stronger doesn't mean they are trying any harder to lift. Someone who is trying to bench 500 could be trying just as hard as the guy whos striving to put 200.

My weight are metric dude. So they go in 4.4 lbs. to 8.8, 14.3, and so on.

Hmm you all speak with great wisdom, I know that their will always be someone out there stronger than me but I would like to be above the average, that's the reason for the original question. It's no fun just challenging myself, I can't talk behind his back.

I don't really think it's as hard of a question as your all making it out to be. I just think about it like this. How many people do I know with my build (height, weight, muscle tone,) that can deadlift 302? Not that many come to mind. If your shorter and stocker that is different but I am spindly. I'm not a compeditor, I'm the average guy who spends more time trying to get by in the world then working out. I don't know what I'm getting at but if I randomly poked at someone my size on the street I bet they couldn't do it.

Two times bodyweight should put you above the average person, I would think. Hell, most people don't even do this exercise.

..it's all about effort. as long as you're putting your all into it, you should be happy. everyone can improve, that's the truth, but just because you may not be as strong as the next guy, doesn't mean you can bust your ass and get stronger.
