    Training for rugby!!

Ok. Just got my new Gym membership after a layoff for a couple of months. I play rugby, for those of you familier with it all the better, those who arnt well its 80 mins of constant exercise requiring strength size and aerobic fitness. Now i want to gain some size aswell as strength but also want a high level of aerobic fitness; i am in somewhat of a predicament as each of the above counteracts (to an extent) the other. What would be some suggestions for a training regime?

    Thanks

    What position do you play?

There was a reasonable article in Muscle & Fitness last month I think about Dan Luger, also Neil Backs book has his training routines in it.

What I understand as most important in rugby is power - being able to move fast and hit hard at the same time. Rugby players are among the most powerful in the world.

Interval training for your cardio and some heavy strength training with some plyometric included would be my prescription.
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.

The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.
