I use the EZ bar. Easier on my wrist. You might want to switch once in awhile to surprise the muscle. Please wait for more input as I am the novice here. I believe the EZ causes my bi's to peak better.

I alternate each week, EZ and straight bar. Straight bar put a lot of strain on your wrists, I also use dumbbells. Variety is the key!

I've been using the EZ bar and DB's for now, elbow was giving me problems and probably will be adding the straight bar again soon. Like Prince says, "variety"!

I used to use only ez-bar, becuase the straight bar was hard on the wrists and I was getting a better contraction with the EZ. Then I tried the straight bar with a little wider grip ... and man ... you get a MUCH better contraction there.
So - I now do ez-bar preacher curls and straight bar standing curls I use dumbbells too for incline curls. Those 3 plus some hammer curls - and call it a day for the biceps. |

I change it up every week. I usually to standing curls with a straight bar and this allows me to vary my grip to take strain off of the wrists. I use mostly EZ for preacher curls.
As for not doing as much weight on the straight bar, that is probably because more of the weight falls directly on the biceps, where EZ starts to involves the brachialis and leverage comes into play.. Know out of curiosity, why would you thing that EZ would work the tris more? Curls do NOT involve the tricep. |

I used to use bar and I'm switching to EZ. Too much pain in forearms! It's a hard switch though, the EZ feel weird when your so used to str8 bar.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

Two of my favorites are incline db curls and straight bar curls. Some preacher curls every now and again.

I don't use a straight bar at all. I use the ez and dumbells. I do 2 sets seated curls with the ez bar. 2 sets standing db curls followed with 2 sets seated incline curls. The actual movements I use are a little unorthodox but it has put an inch on my arms in a month.

I've been lifting for years moderately. Just to stay in shape. But just recently started to train hard.

Good for you! Congrats on your gains. What kind of unorthodox movement are you talking about?
