What you're doing wrong is you are mistakenly thinking that a pump is necessary for a good work-out, it's not.
Stop measuring your work-out by your pump.
There are some work-outs where I actually try to attain a pump, I will do higher reps, giant sets, strip sets, etc. maybe once every 3 times, meaning for each muscle group. So every third week I might do this for each muscle.
