Question work bi's no more than once a week, calves every day?

I've heard from a competitor (I don't compete) that you should not work out the bi's more than once a week because it needs more time for recovery. On the other hand, calves and abs, because of the muscle density, can be worked every day. I've been quite the "hardgainer" as far as my bi's and calves and I would love some advise.

Calves are no different than any other muscle, except they're higher in red fiber. I guess you could get away with working them twice per week, but every day is rediculous.

Biceps actually recover quite quickly in comparison to ther muscle groups, if you do hard/heavy back work your biceps will get hit twice per week, directly and indirectly.

Abs, you can work up to 3-4 times per week, but it does depend on the type of work you're doing on them, e.g. weighted exercises, you may not want to work more than 3 times.

This guy is full of it. Just b/c someone is big doesn't mean that they are going about things correctly. For the most part it is genetics making up for the lack of training knowledge with these idiots. If he knew his shit then he would know that the Bis are the fastest muscle to recover and as P said the calves are just like every muscle as far as recoery time. There is no benefit to train them every day, in fact if that is what he does then he doesn't train them right. I really don't see how the Bis would take so long to recover either, they are one of the smaller muscle groups. Don't take any more of this guys advice

    yeah i'd agree with that

I did back yesterday and my bi's are proper ripped, then i'll it them directly again on friday

theres a lot more to it then saying Bi's can't be worked more than once a week, i saw a HUGE ARMS routine on planet muscle, and you workout a different arm everyday for 6 days a week (like right,left,right... etc) obviously for advanced guys who wanna turn big guns into massive ones

i wouldn't hit them more than twice a week on a standard split though

    peace

I used to do back and biceps, for the last year I have been doing back/traps, chest/shoulders, bis/tris and legs (four day split).

I have seen growth in my arms in the last year with this change.

    hey Mudge!
