    Question Maintenance

What type of lifting is done for general maintenance? Do you just stop increasing the weight you lift to stay in shape? Whats next, I mean after you reach your goals and are happy with yourself.I have not yet met my goals but I am pretty close, I don't think I'm going to try to keep getting bigger I'll just want to keep what I have built. Thanks

If you're happy with a level you've achieved, yes you'll need to maintain the current poundages your at. But, I seriously doubt you'll be happy where you're at for long. You'll find yourself going for another 5-10 pounds on the bench or squat. There's always something you'll find you want to improve on. You will get bored real quick when you dont see progress from your work.

    I totally agree!

Even if you reach your goal, odds are you won't be satified for very long. If you are truely happy after reaching your goal, then you just need to maintain the poundage you lift as well as your diet.

I think the other problem if you did decide to just maintain what you have already built would be motivation you wouldnt really have any goals to attain and so would find it difficult to keep the discipline to diet and train properly. Just my thoughts.

In my opinion pushing the limits is what makes you what you are. Pushing yourself is what got you in the weight room to begin with, what makes you think you can mantain with out pushing the limits?
