Question Rest pause ???

I know a little bit about the rest-pause method, for instance the 20 rep squat is one rest pause set of 20 reps. As far as benching or pressing movements, what would be the way to rest pause on those movements ? If you're benching after you reach failure, do ( or spotter ) you rack the weight and rest for however many seconds and then crank out a few extra reps or do you hold the weight and wait til you can eek out a few more ? Thanks in advance.

rack the weight and rest about 20 secs, and then bang out a couple more reps, rest again and hit a couple more out

Traditional rest pause is per rep, this is done in powerlifting competitions. So at the bottom of your rep, hold the weight, and when (after one second has passed) the ref says go, you are allowed to press and complete the repetition.
