    Who Inspires You?

Or What Made You Want to Change?

I am just getting over the flu, and like many here, I want to get ripped, which has been my goal for several years. It feels like I have a long way to go, but I know it can be done.
I want to change because I want respect. I am all of 130 #s soaking wet and I cant stand it. (I was 136 in Sept )
I want to look good nekkid. I want more confidence. I want to be in great shape. I want a better job, I want to make more $$$.
I might even explore becoming a personal trainer.
god, I feel like such a wanker, since for two weeks I was doing so well!! i was even increasing my weights, then my diet tanked,

So I'm getting a new calendar today, and plan out my workouts for next week. Hopefully, I haven't lost too much ground!
    Determined.

No one really inspired me to begin working out. I was getting pretty bad though...I'd go home after school and just smoke weed. My grades were dropping, I wasn't happy if I wasn't high, and it was beginning to take a toll on all my relationships. That's when I started to hit the gym. Wasn't real serious about it, but I worked out when I had the time and slowly began to set my life straight. Then a relationship I was in came to an extremely ugly closing. This got me pumped. I released all my anger and agression in the gym and I began to see the results. Day after day I hit the gym and liked what I was seeing when I looked in the mirror so I haven't stopped since.

Since i can remember, i have always been fascinated w/ the King, Arnold. Seeing him in movies with his enormous size always intrigued me.

Growing up, for some reason, i always liked "killing myself". i used to do X-country and would love the feeling of seeing how hard i could push myself. i did the 400m and 800m in track, and would literally feel like dying after i finished. In h.s., i'm convinced our basketball practices were the hardest practices ever. we used to be lucky if we would use balls for half the practice with the ridiculous nonstop sprinting drills we did.

i started weight training my jr yr in high school. i kept at it in college cuz i had nothing else to "test" myself physically.

then the BB bug stung, and i havent been able to get over it since...
You're a funny guy, Sully, I like you. Dat's why I'm going to kill you lahst.

There were a couple of things that made me change. First was my choice of lifestyle. I was doing things that probably should have or would have made me die. Plus i was only about 125lbs at the age of 18. But what is my countinuos source of inspiration is wrestling. Im a wrestling fanatic and am planing to go to a wrestling school just to see if its for me. So anytime i would get that feeling of i really dont want to workout today i would think about my dream and what i have to do to achieve it. Now working out has become an adiction of mine. it not only makes me want to make my body better but it has also given me more focus in all aspects of my life. Im now 20 and 160lbs and now even if im under the weather i make sure to push my self harder at every workout to acheive my goals.

Also i dont know how it was for everyone else when they started working out but for me one of worst things was people who would try to cut me down for trying to better myself. But now, from those same people or people i didnt see for months at a time, i hear "man your looking good" or "what have you been eating." Which is always good encouragment.

    Sorry about the long replay.
    Peace

There is no who, there is a why:

My will to live, a certain way, as a certain me.

I can get inspired by watching a person or two from time to time, or a good video, listening to good music, but there is no single person that I ever look to on a long term basis for inspiration to lift.

I go there for self improvement.

What made me want to change was I wanted to be a winner at whatever sport I do, I wanted to have an edge. The only person that inspires me it’s me, to work harder and that thing in the back of my mind that the person I will compete with is probably training harder than I am.

    simple answer...... my kids
after the birth of my daughter at the age of 34 i realized i was going to be 51 when she graduates high school and i figured i better do something if i wanted to keep up with her after all it had been 10 years since my last child was born. I tell you what i see things alot different now than when i was a father in my early 20s. life is to short to waste it .....all it takes is dedication to the will to try and live a longer healthier life. I mean there are many people who say i cant excercise i dont like to well these people should ask themselves if they would like to live healthier and hopefully longer lives and i bet they will answer yes. That is where will comes in, you have to have it and be willing to give up bad habits . Never mind im rambling this has nothing to do with the question . Simply said my kids inspire me everytime i look into their eyes when i kiss them goodnight..........

If the stories are true, Bruce was VERY strong, especially for his ~165 pound peak bodyweight.

    What I remember was

*Holding 135 out at arms length (barbell)
    * 225 pound good mornings

No one person has served as my inspiration. As a teen, I wasn't the weakest kid, but certainly not strong. I also have a endomorphic body type, so I typically carried higher then normal body fat. Once I got into weight training in my mid-30s (turned 48 today), and started seeing the compositional and strength changes, I was hooked. I am definitely stronger then I have ever been at any point in my life, and this does inspire me. At some point, I'll start going backwards, but at least I'll know I took it to my full potential...

    More thoughts

Here's more stuff I put together.

Big balla, that's not me in my avi(I wish!)

What made me want to change.

#1. Respect and Success. Believe it or not, people react to you on a very primal level. If you are small, they will treat you as a weaker, 2nd class citizen. The same goes if you are overweight. People make fun of you behind your back and won't give you respect on the job. Because you are not “normal”, or you don't look good enough, you will be passed over when promotion time comes. Because of your smaller(or larger) stature, they act as if they can disrespect you, and they often will. Give people a weakness and they will walk all over you. This has been proven time and time again in case studys. Often people will be passed over for a job because someone else looked better than them even though they worked harder than the good looking guy! Maybe someone is a really nice guy, but they appear weak because they are smaller, or overweight. I was the nice guy once. Now I am an asshole. Although I may still be small, now I will put up a fight, so I've been called mouthy. My roommates even called me an asshole a while back. It just made my heart glad to hear that. Well don't be passed over! Make people like you! And if they don't like you, well, at least they can respect you!
I will be strong. I will be an ass, because nobody disrespects assholes. Be strong. I will be the one that gets the new job or promotion because I will not only look good, but I will strive to be the best. I will overcome these demons, because I have raised the bar. I will not accept mediocrity!
I don't think I am vain, I just want to look good. I want to look good, but I also want to achieve real results, which require action, and not just resting on your laurels.
Actions reward action. Success breeds success. The more you exercise, the better you feel. Your heart races and gets more oxygen throughout your system. Your posture improves. You feel fresh. Ever notice how co-workers or friends look at you differently after you have started a new routine? Do people ask if you if you're seeing someone new?
Because I have goals, and I want to be as strong and healthy as possible to reach those goals.
#2. For the Women folk. Let's face it fellas, you want to look better than the next guy so you can attract the best possible woman(for those of us who are currently single). While personality, charm, character traits, values, sense of humor, friends, your job and other factors certainly play a part in the mating game, if you look good the deck is stacked in your favor. I want the total package, and in return, I will be the total package.
You have heard it said that water seeks its own level. Women want to be with a guy who's hot. The more muscular he is, the more viril he must be, right? I realize this sounds incredibly shallow but it's the truth. As I said above, people react to you on a primal level. You only get one chance to make a first impression, so make it good.
#3. Look good naked. Just because.
#4. Because I caught the bodybuilding bug a few years ago, and I'm hooked.
#5. Confidence. When people treat you with genuine respect, you feel a lot better about yourself for accomplishing a real feat.
#6. Because it feels really good down below. Achieve more erections more often than the average couch potato. To those who don't exercise a lot, this is a little known fact. But the more you stimulate the muscles, exercise your heart, and feed your body with the proper nutrients, it's only natural for the male body to produce more testosterone, the side effect of which is, more wood. Make them wonder why you smile so much.
#7. Cause it makes other guys jealous when you look better than they do.
#8. Because people have told you you can't.
#9. Because I can eat virtually anything.
    #10. Did I mention women?
    Determined.
