Somewhere in between, too narrow = triceps, too wide = delt heavy. I go with with is comfortable. For my ~80" reach I put my middle finger around the ring on an olympic bar for my pressing, delt and benching.
With those I use a suicide grip, which I hadn't used in a long time until Dale suggested it... |

How is that suicide grip going Mudge? I actually contemplated going to an opposing thumb grip just to switch things up for a couple weeks.

I'll have to try it again. I have always used a suicide grip for CG bench and military, but for some reason it has never felt right to me for regular bench.
BTW, with a suggestion from GoPro regarding bent over rows, I switched from a regular grip to suicide to help take the biceps out of the movement. At first it felt really awkward and I had to use less weight. A few weeks later, I've hit new PBs and added more thickness to my back... Mayo, try different grip widths, you'll probably find a moderate to slightly wide one works best. It depends on your reach and your shoulder width where 'moderate' actually is. |
