My wrist sucks. I'm going to beat it with a lead pipe if it keeps this up...

Was in the gym today, tried to do some upright rows, and my left wrist felt like it was going to detach itself from my arm. Extremely painful. Only happens as i raise the weight, though. I think its the awkward position it puts the wrist in... although i've never experienced it before.

Unfortunately that set the tone for the w/o, and i had an absolutely crappy shoulder w/o.

Any idea if this is something temporary, or the sign of a longer term problem?

When i flex my left wrist up and down, i can feel much more 'popping' or 'grinding'. Not as harsh as those terms would make it sound, but i couldnt think of a better word.

I used to get this, but it would go away after a few days rest and I havent had it for a while now. When was the last time you had a good break?

You could also try some of those wraps, they might help.

Somehow I don't believe beating it with a lead pipe will help too much, but it is your choice.

You could try to use an EZ curl bar, but if you have no access to the longer version it will prolly not work, unless done on a cable machine with it's ez bar attachment. Another option would be to do it on the cable machine with the ropes since they give more leeway.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Exact same thing happened to me. Sometimes it's a bit painful, and yeh you can feel it popping and it cracks a bit.
It eventually just stopped happening for me

yeah i used to do those... but the cable stack only goes up to 150lbs

ill give the EZ bar a try. i dont think my gym has any of the long ones, but the short might still work.

oddly enough, i had just taken a break from shoulders/tri's last week.

I'm a small-boned guy myself, and with my tiny wrists being barely 6 inches in total circumference, I have always avoided using a barbelll at all costs, except for bench press work.

I have always used a regular-sized EZ-bar for military presses, upright rows, etc.

It works fine - I'm definitely working the appropriate muscle groups in good fashion, and it spares my wrists from breaking
