    Height and weight

Hey u all. I decided to put this subject in this forum because this forum seemed the most suitable for my subject.

im 16 years old, and im 5'7", 135-140 pounds. I really want to grow. I really do. My dad is 5'11" and my mom is 5'5". Im upset that im short. My dad said he grew late but i was gonna ask if its possible for me to keep growing, even though im old and my shoe size hasnt increased in awhile. Also, did any of you all get a sudden growth spurt at a later age? Also, no matter how much i eat i seem to stay at 135. I eat a lot of protein and no junk food. anyone please help? thanks.

People have grown even into thier early 20s, avoid caffinated products and smoking.

I am 6'2", my dad is about 6 foot, and yet my 18 year old brother is 5'6" I however did eat alot and drank milk frequently, where my brothers grew up on soda and garbage food. Some people can eat like crap though and still grow so who knows.

If you dont track your calories you will never figure what it takes to increase weight, it is a very simple science, but guesswork wont give you the results you want. If you are averaging 2500 calories a day through the week lets say (some days more, some less) then you will have to go beyond that to increase weight. I am eating enough right now to make me uncomfortable at times, but my weight goes up without a doubt, and the diet is on paper not just in my head.

Protein is but one macronutrient, to put on weight you are going to need some quanity of carbs and fats in there too, just eating meat all day long isn't enough.

Matching your protein intake with carb intake in a 1:1 ratio for example instantly doubles your calories (discluding your fat intake).

    200 grams protein a mere 800 calories
200 grams carbs a mere 800 calories, total discluding fat we are only at 1600 calories which is NOT very much at all.
Fat is of course 9 calories per gram, adds up quickly

So if you have trouble gaining weight, 400-600g carbs through the day would not be unheard of, but write your diet down now so you have a starting point. Add another 500-750 calories to your daily totals spread as evenly as you can.

i think you can still grow 2-3 inches at least by the time you are twenty.

My dad is 5'10 and my mom is 5'5 and i grew up to be 6'1. I ate like a madman when i was young though. keep eatin'

I'm 5'6 and 26 years old. I've given up hope. Everyone has given good advice here. My lifestyle as a teen was pretty shitty (i.e junk food and partying), but having short parents didnt help either. It's not THAT bad being short. I'd rather be 5'9+, but its not gonna happen. I just concentrate on making the most of what I have. I think being short is harder to deal with at your age than when you get older. You've still got some growing time. Don't worry too much yet.

i beleive 18 is the "average" age of growing to stop or slow to a crawl...

i grew about 3 inches in one summer - but i am now @ about 6'4 - have to check. everyone in my famliy is below 5'8 - my dad being the tallest @ about 5'8 and my mom can not be more then 5'2.

i did not smoke until i was about 18 - then i was a pot head for 2 years - but i had done most of my growing already, i did not start drinking either till about 18.

it is all genetic in the family - my grand mother had a brother who was 6'6 so they figure i got it from her side.

also as a kid - i ate junk food by the tons but i also drank about and still do drink about 2-3 litres of milk a day! - i love the stuff! (99% fat free stuff)

    so that could be it.

as for the weight ganing - i was the same way - i seemed to gain weight in huge amounts.

i was always about 110-115lbs when i was younger (very active!) - then i went up to about 150 about 3 years ago - then to about 170 - now i am @ 205 - 210lbs pending on when i weight myself. This is because i am not very active anymore like i was - but now no matter what i eat i do not go above 210lbs - even after a big dinner!

one thing i wanna say first, EAT MORE, you say you eat a lot well eat more, then you are 16 and 5'7 thats not bad. my best friend used to be a fat ass (real fat ass) and he went from 5'8 to 6'1 in two years and it seems to me he is still growing (now he is a skinny fuck) and he is only 18. So be patient man it is possible just DO NOT train your legs hard! Because at your age you are just finishing puberty (i think). So good luck..............

Eat what you want, drink what you want, do what you want it wont matter. Your genetics have already determind your height at birth.

If it gives you some hope, I grew about 8 inches in 2.5 months when I was 13. When I was about 16-17 I grew another 2 inches.

I think a lot of us wish we were a lot taller, I'm almost 22 and I've given up on the fact that I will never be taller than the 5'10 that I am.....

Oh god how I want to be 6 foot! That was my only christmas wish and santa didn't bring it...oh well.
