What protects your joints when you lift huge weight?

When you're lifting massive amounts of weight, what protects your joints? Your muscles?

Like, these guys squatting 700 pounds... Well, how come their knees don't break? Is the muscle surrounding the articulations?

i'm just curious, I'll never lift that much.

ligaments hold the joints together, muscles help to stabilize them, especially in areas like the back.

After awhile its not just muscle that grows, search on collagen synthesis if you like, I have something posted in the anabolic forum or give Google a shot.

You can look into MSM and glucosamine chondroitin as well, there are a couple other OTC alternatives I think as well.

This is one reason why a newbie should not take steriods. Quick muscle growth and quick strength increases....................your ligaments and tendons can't handle the extra weight and you get hurt!
