Hi, it's me again.......There is a lot of different opinions about training in this forum and i was wondering what you guys think of my training routine...... first of all my big question, I workout every bodypart only once a week, for example i do arms for an hour on mondays and than take tuesday off and do chest on wednesday, then do abs on thursday, i do back on friday, and i take saturday or sunday for a "cardio workout day only".... (i also do 15 minutes of running before everyworkout during the week...... do you guys like my routine and what do you think about it... do i give my body tooooo much rest or am i fine...??? i was also thinking of changing my routine but first i need you opinions.....

working you legs does not mean that need to get bigger, especially since you do a lot of running and cardio. also, training them with weight is completly different then running and cardio and those are not a good exscuse to not train legs.

Now, once a week for bodyparts is good. That is what most people do. I feel that hitting everyhing 2x's per week is beneficial also, so long as you adjust your volume and intensity form workout to workout accordingly.

yeah, there are many different options that you can try. Especially if you are willing to go for a push/pull and legs split.

A beginner really doesn't need to work their legs imo... I think that's more intermediate... for the first six months I lifted i never did any lower body, besides tennis and some cycling....

I also think a beginner should be working each body part twice a week... then after about 6 months, go down to once every 5,6, or 7 days... depending on the individual...

but... a beginner needs only one thing to have awesome results in their first 6 months... CONSISTENCY!!!

Are you kidding me????

^^ I disagree. The squat and the deadlift are the two most important movements in any gym, and the sooner a beginner is taught the basics the sooner he can begin to master the two movements that will yield the most in strength and physiological mass gains. As he gets more advanced, then I would start to incorporate front squats, hack squats with the bar, cleans, jerks, pulls, snatches, and other such Olympic movements. How are you gonna say that lower body work is unnecessary? FOcussing on the upper body exclusively will obviously create physiological imbalances and not only be cosmetically detrimental, but the imbalance will also create difficulties when the trainee actually does get down to doing serious lower body work.

Also, working each body part twice a week without the knowledge of how to vary reps and volume will lead to overtraining. I do not recommend that the beginner does this.

Peace.

You should always include leg work in your training no matter what stage you are at.No leg training = less overall gains.

I disagree. The squat and deadlift are the two most important exercises for anyone to do. If not becasue they have the greatest hormonal response of any exercise, because they are functionaly similiar to anyhting we do in the real world (outside of the gym). Just becasue they are hard does not mean that they should be neglected. For a bergginer especially this is important becasue in your legs you have the ability to add the most amount of muscle mass since they are the largest muscle group.

Training muscle groups twice a week is great for anyone (beginner or elite lifter) as long as workout intensity and volume are adjusted accordingly. Once a week for each body part is okay but in my opinion most people can do better as long as they have a thought out game plan.

my concern is as a beginner it's very easy to hurt yourself doing deadlifts and squats... why not strengthen your body, lose some BF and then move on to more advanced moves where form can be such a concern as well as safety...

I think the best way to stengthen your body is to do squats and deads,as long as you are using good form.

strongly agree with this statement

Chuck Norris once lost his keys and couldn't remember where he put them. So he tortured himself for half an hour until he gave up their location.
