Question football training

Hi,

a guy I work with has suggested I try out for his american football team. I am not sure which position, I am 5' 8" 114kg.

Does anyone know of a site or have a routine for specific training?

Rich

5'8'' isnt real tall for football because the wide recievers are tall and can jump real high if needed to catch a ball. The runningbacks are big and powerfull and need to break tackles. My fav position is the free safety which is the last form of defense on the field..As long as you can run fast and are in shape to take hits. What is your weight in pounds?

My weight is about 250lbs. I could probably drop this by 20-30 if I got into good shape. I haven't played sport for a while, but used to play off-guard in basketball and was reasonably quick.

Military Press
Deadlifts
Power Cleans
Squats

Basically your routine will revolve around these compound lifts for power and explosion. Then some speed/agility training of some sort. Search www.bodybuilding.com for football training for more ideas.

These are my favorite faces : - - -

Personal Bests:

Bench - 235
Deadlift - 315 X 17
Squat - 315 X 11
40 yrd. - 4.65

you are 5'8" 250? damn man props to u....thats hard ahah! well a lot of people might theink that u need to be taller. Untrue. Emmitt smith was 5'9" 243(Of course solid muscle). You are probably more suited for running back(since you can run low) or a blocking fullback. Maybe even a weakside linebacker

Good, bad, im the guy with the gun-Army of Darkness

Weight:147 pounds
DB Incline Press: Repping 70 lbs in each hand.
Standing curls: Repping 60 lbs
(thats all i remember for now!)

ya id say either Fullback. they can still cary the ball if you can run fast..you prolly have power but if you are build like a steel wall id be on the front line as a linebacker..either offensive or defensive

Hi,

i don't have access to a fax readily, is there anyway you could scan it?

I am carrying about 20-40lbs of fat at the mo'.

In what sort of order/frequency/split should I be doing these exercises?
