Sit-ups-behind head or weighted

I've been trying to do sit-ups where I can only get 6-10 reps out. So I do the crunch machine and weighted decline sit-ups. For the sit-ups I can hold a 25lb plate on my chest and still do more than 10 reps. But when I tried no weight but hands behind head it was much harder (granted this was right after 3 sets weighted w/ no rest) So I'm wondering if I'm doing the declines correctly, or is it harder to hold your hands behind your head than a 25 plate on your chest?

Cable crunches.....up the weight

If you have a work out partner...you could take the decline or incline bench...do your crunches there while your partner tosses a medicine ball at you.

Almost like playing volleyball...sorta

If that's too light....try adding weighted plates on your chest while performing the above ab exercise.

Try a weight vest. I have never tried it myself, but I was in The Sports Authority the other day buying some more plates, and I noticed they had a 40 pound weight vest for sale. You could wear that and hold weight on your chest for extra resistance. I don't know how much it reduces flexibility... so that is something to consider. I just thought it might be worth mentioning.

Hey babs, doing any better?

I do them with a rope, get on my knees facing the pulley and keep the rope and arms behind my head, then I just bend over. I feel it more in my back than abs.
