    girls workout

my girlfriend wants me to start training her. her goals are to loose body fat and firm up. i thought she could do 3 sessions a week with 25-30mins cardio atthe end of a weights workout.
for her weights workout should i give her total body workouts or a couple of muscle groupes per day.she isnt gonna be doing a whole lot of weights. does any one have any suggestions for theweights.

i wouldn't start her out with total body work outs.

    Do muscle groups.

Do you train? If so, why are you asking this question? Relate this to your experiences when you first started and base it off of your gains.....learn from your mistakes not to pass on to her.

Have you thought of maybe putting her on a three day split? My old trainer had me on one when I first started back in 99. He would have me do total body on Monday and Friday, then just legs on Wed. I might be able to dig up those workout sheets from somewhere.

Only because, it could be too much for her body to handle if she's never worked out before...she'll get sore and be discouraged..........

Just like pt's when working with a first time client...They're not going to make that person hit it hard for the simple fact, they want to make sure it's been an enjoyable experience and they'll come back......Once the endurance has built up....then the push and drive sets in to play.......

I'm speaking from experience...........When I first started out...I thought I could do it all.......trained for an hour....the next day i could barely walk...and it lasted for 1 week......pure hell.

Why not let her workout with you and do what you do but obviously with lighter weight? Start her slow and let her work her way into your split.

Try her out on a modified HST workout system. Its a slowly progessive system, that starts light (thatll make sure she doesnt overtrain or get TOO sore) and each workout is total body.

If I were you, this is what I would put her on.

    Mon. HST
    Tue. Rest
    Wed. Light Cardio
    Thur. Rest
    Fri. HST.
    Sat. Rest
    Sun.Rest

That should be plenty for her at first and you can AMP it up as time goes on.

    Good luck

(P.S. Dont let her get too fit, shell start getting looks from the other guys at the gym )

personally, premo i think u have the right idea. 3 fullbody sessions/week with some cardio thrown in at the end. i would say only make her do 1 exercise/bodypart, at around 2 sets of around 12 reps.
