So how do you guys get into position for your skullcrushers when you don't have a spotter,?

Right now, I've been using the opposite end of the bench to the rack, so that I gotta do like crunches to put take the barbell off and put it back on, but I'm wondering if this will end up hurting my lowerback in the long run....

Thakns in advance....

This is exactly what I do.

Question: Why would ya need a spotter for these?

I have a spotter when I am going heavy.......They are called skull cruehers for a reason!!! . Plus I usually do mine with an olympic bar and cleaning 135lbs (which isn't the hard part) and trying to lie down with the olympic bar can get kind of tricky.

Oh...I c.....never saw anyone use the olympic bar...

I use this funky looking bar.....looks like a rectangle with grips on the inside. I slip plates on the end and hit it!

I use the curl bar sometimes too. I usually find myself using the olympic bar more often though. I feel like becasue it is straight I can't cheat my elbows out as much otherwise my wrists will really feel it.........it keeps me a little more honest

As I'm picturing this in my head............do you have balancing issues while using the olympic bar?

What about the seat for the preacher curls? I've seen people use it by me. They just put a bench in front of it then load the EZ curl bar up. (bar on the 2 rest prongs) Once they lay down the bar is rite by their head and all they have to do is lift it up. I just use dumbells, but then I guess it gets kinda hard to use em when they get heavy.

No, I have no problems balancing weight at all. the only problem is trying to lie down with 135lbs in my hands. That is not a small amount of weight to be lying back with and I am not aobut to have it come down on me or hurt my spine.

I thought I was the only one who did skull crushers with an olympic bar. It's the only bar I have, and I just started, but I've never heard of anyone doing it that way. It seems to work for me so far though...
