I would say it depends on your intesity. I probably wouldn't rest that often myself on a regular training cycles. But when i'm just finishing up with a comp, I'll take a 5 to 7 day break, because my level of training going into a meet is a lot tougher than my "off season". A break when you're feeling burnt, is for sure a good idea, but I don't see a reason to take that long of one just for the heck of it. I don't know if this helps, but there ya go.
VG.
the reason i was going to take off so frequently, is, b/c i have lately been doing almost all power lifts, so i get tired fast. am going to start go pros work out soon; i think you take a week off every 3 weeks on that(?)
sentricyphen...i compete in the APF and AAPF. and i have no idea what you're talking about bro. I've been a competive powerlifter for a while now, which means i train with the major "power" lifts. It's how you train that makes the difference and not how much time you take off. Regular recoop time is needed for sure. But instead of taking that much time off every 7 or 8 weeks, consider changing up your routine. I cycle a lot of speed training with heavy overloads, and only do my actual competitive lifts occasionally...ie: power bench, squats, and deads. i'll work in a lot of "similar" lifts like floor press, rack pulls, box squats, and so on.

i have been thinking about a week off every 2 months, sound like too much?
hum. ok. did you read your post back to yourself? check it again. it sounded to me like you were asking for some advice on weather that was...uh....too much time.....read it again or learn how to rephrase your post big fella. And I was just trying to help you out bro. Whatever.
I've heard a lot of people say they like to take off every 3 months or so. It seems to me like 6 months is more appropriate for myself. However, you have to do what works for yourself.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...
