Premier,
To be honest, this person was pretty militant about what he did and I do not know how long he trained. He knows that I train though(when I can), and told me his experience. He used one of those weight gainer powders, but didn't tell me about the rest of his diet. All I told him was "something isn't right about that picture".

2nd point- I am currently 130#. My associate, described above, says he is 145.

The whole point of my post was, if you're not acheiving your goals or doing something wrong, change it, until it works.
Some people actually do cardio while on a bulk? Wow, I would never do that!
If you're not gaining weight on a bulk you're not eating enough, or you're not eating enough of the right things. I start putting on pounds when my diet tops 4k.

I am 5'8" and 190Lbs. I am bulking on 4600+ cals a day, and gaining 1 1/2Lbs a week. Once they start counting calories and know how to eat right then they will gain. Also why the hell would someone do cardio on a bulk? Seriously.

I agree that 5000cals without weight gain is a little out there. I can bulk on 5000cals and gain some weight, my meatbolism is pretty quick though because I start cutting at around 4000cals. I also agree that people say they eat a lot but have no clue. Most guys that want to bulk ask me how an dthe first thing iask them is how much they eat. it isn't until they write it out for me that I they see they are undereating.

Cardio on a bulk? I did cardio on my bulk this year (sometimes once a week, sometimes twice a week and then sometimes not at all for a couple of weeks. I cycled it through out.)? Why? Two reasons:

1) it helped keep me leaner. I didn't have to really drop cals for mini cuts. Instead I cycled insome cardio to help create the caloric defecit.

2) heart reasons. Bulking up is tough on the heart so I think some cardio is a good idea. I would just do my cardio and make sure I overeat a little on those days to make up for the increased caloric expenditure.

P-funk and premier are completely right. The dumbass people who say they eat a lot everyday are ALWAYS undereating. They eat like 3 meals a day all of which are like 1/2 of my SMALLEST meal and i eat 6-7+ (plus snacks and shit in between) times a day. What people don't realize is that you can't listen to your body about dieting, because your body's goals are always the opposite or yours. For example when cutting your appetite is always up and your metabolism is always down, and when bulking your appetite is down and metabolism is sky high (unless your a freak like P-funk who is hungry at 5k+ kcals/day).

In an interview, Shaun Ray said he cuts at a strict 2000 cals. daily until you can see his colon. And, he does long cuts. They loose everything but the boulders and arteries...their skin is shrikwrapped around tight into the seems. I don't want to know how they got that big, I want to know how their muscles survived a cut like that.
