Still dont understand! :(
Hey u all. I used to hear: "as long as u give each muscle a full day of rest, ure ok. You can lift the same muscles...just make sure its not on consecutive days"
Now from what i see u all sayin: "give atleast 72 hours for each muscle to rest." I see a lot of u do one muscle a week. Some of u all that do this seem to be HUGE...but i dont undersatnd...it feels like that is too little for each muscle,....how do ure muscles grow bigger if u work each out ONCE a week?! I mean i do each muscle twice a week and give them two days a week (for example, chest, tris and shoulders on monday then thursday). Im so confused. DO u all that do the one-muscle-a-week thing train till failure or somethin? do u all just train that one muscle till that muscle feels like it cant do anythin else afterwards? |

When I was younger I ALWAYS trained 1 muscle to failure 1 day a week. I got nice and strong, and pretty decent size. Now I have moved to more advanced routine.

Right now it is:
Mon: on Tues: on Wed: on Thur: off Fri: on Sat: on Sun: off And the workouts are: Legs Chest/Shoulders/Tris Back/Rhomboids/Bis So each week the workout will be on a different day because the split is designed to give 72hrs rest per muscle group. |

I too think it has to do with the individual, although their are some good studies that show as long as you dont train to failure, your ready to go in 48 hours or so. My training split is as such:
Mon: Chest/Tri's/Abs (Hypertrophy, not to failure) Tue: Back/Shoulders/Bi's (Hypertrophy, not to failure) Wed: Legs (Hypertrophy, not to failure) Thur: Off Fri: Upper Body, including deadlifts (Strength, to failure) Sat: Lower Body (Strength, to failure) Somtimes I do a cycle. 3days hypertrophy/off/3 days hypertrophy/off/2days strength/off/off Repeat. |

camaro...im sure ure split is awesome...but the reason why i do chest tris and shoulders on same day lkike premier is doin...is cause i think some chest exercises work the shoulders as a secondary workout...so after u do chest on monday...then u do shoudlers on tues....isnt that bad? i have no clue!! ahh! ahaha...enlighten mee

id at least switch up the exercises im doing as much as possible, but still do ones that hit the same muscles... maybe think about changing the routine in a couple months, but if you change the exercises enough you shouldnt need to for a while.

If working out your muscles multiple times per week works for you, then good. Once a week works very well for me so far, but everyone is different. If you start noticing yourself hitting a plateau, then you might want to try switching to the 1day per week method.
