    AM or PM Workouts???

I am usually a PM Workout kind of guy, but haven't made in recently, dammit! So I'm considering changing to AM workouts a couple times a week. Now my diet is actually on track (over 2500 daily for three days), but my workouts are not!!!

My gym is in busy downtown Seattle, and our fair city is a mess at the PM rush hour. So I thought I would avoid the crowds, all that, and get in in the am. Then you just gotta plan, & eat, and make it to work in time, is all.
Damb, I already get up at 5am. thoughts?

Is your question this? ---->Are there any advantages to working out in the AM over the PM, and perhaps vice-versa?

I like lifting in the PM.

I have read that cardio is best in the AM to get the body going. I would think the same would hold true for lifting.

I have done both, and just prefer PM. Also I have always felt that I have more energy and strength in the PM.

As far as advantages to either, I do not see any physiologically, whatever works for you.

No real preference... i like to have at least 2 meals in me before hitting the gym, though.

4-7pm sucks at my gym, though. always packed with people.

Less peeps in the am, so you can get the good weights....plus am workouts leave you with more energy during the day.

I myself have wondered about this. I believe I read that test levels are highest in the morning so I always figured that would be the best time. I think the best time is whatever you like the best. You will get more out of your w/o if you want to be there.

I personally wake up and eat, wait a couple of hours and then work out. Sometimes right before lunch but sometimes after.

No problem Pierzin, its a fact of life we all have to work (when we have jobs) and so anytime you can get it in seems to with us all. Early in the mornings before work or late at night after work. its all the same really.

I prefer am workouts . Less distractions. and then the rest of the day is open for the rest of my life . LOL Also if for some reason Imiss the am workout then I can do it in the pm. If i was doing pm workouts and missed it , its gone.

I'm sorry for asking this because it does seem it has been answered about 7 times sofar.

There is no difference between working out in the am or the pm??? There are no advantages either way???

I always thought the morning was better so I got up before work (although I am NOT a morning person).

I've also heard that working out in the PM is bad for your sleep if it is after 6pm? I would be working out from 7pm - ?? every night (this would give me ALOT more time to work out then in the morning)

ALSO... should you not eat something after lifting?? If I get home at 8ish... then eat something around 8:30-9:00, and then go to bed at 10:30, is that not a bad thing??

I'm just getting alot of mixed info, someone please set me straight.

I workout really late sometimes. I have worked out as late as 11-1AM on days that I really get behind on more pressing issues (Term paper that I put off until the last minute). It has never affected my sleep negatively. In fact, since I started lifting, I have been able to fall asleep much easier. I could never work out really early in the morning. However, if I was capable of doing it, then I definitely would.
