Nothing like wide grip chins to build lat width. Close grip pulldowns, seated pulley rows, and T-bar rows are good ones too that were not previously mentioned.

    Seated low rows for thickness.
Wide grip pull downs for spread.
I need to do both, going lower reps on the low rows.

    I like:

    One arm dumbbell rows
    Seated cable rows (close grip)
Lat pull-downs (to front) (wide and close grip)
    Deadlifts

I do other exercises, but those are what I prefer, here are some other that I do:

    Bent over barbell rows
Standing Cable "pull-overs" (hard to explain)
    Machine rows (Cybex machine)
    Pull-ups (wide grip)

Wide-grip pulls are the best upper body movement to me. Gives you great thickness/wideness/strength gains.

    Peace.

i cant do them on my own yet, need either the weight assisted machine or a spotter to push on my knees a little, for good form.

WEll sup,, that's a start. Keep plugging away. It was only about a year ago I had a difficult time getting 3 or 4 sets of 8 with body weight. Now I'm banging out 3-4 sets of 8 with 25 pounds strapped abound my waist and 6 reps with 35lbs. Sweat and percerverence will get you there.

Now your talking my man. Now your talking! Do them every back workout. When you can get 8 to 10 for 3 sets with body weight then start adding a little weight. You'll get there my man. My word on that.

I'm in the same boat as you. I just bought a pullup bar for the first time. My first back workout using it will start tomorrow. Every time I start using a new lift, the need for increased resistance comes on strong. I hope you're the same way. We'll be using big weights in no time.

Back in the day when I only weighed 155, I could do about 12 reps. Now at 185, I am not strong enough to lift the extra body weight.

Sex standing up is a pretty good lat workout... just use underhanded grip and squeeze your lats with every other thrust.... helps you keep rhythm too
    Are you kidding me????

Im glad Im not the only one who has a hard time doing pull-ups with wide grip or regular grip. I can only do about 7 or 8 till I fall down. Forget weighted!

I can deadlift 415, bench 300, squat in the upper 300's but I cant do but 7 pull ups, it was embarrasing! But now you guys made me feel better

doesnt it seem strange that even after having strong lats from other exercises something as simple as a pull up is difficult
