    Best way to increase squats

Another thing I just thought of. Folks always trying to figure out what leg exercise to use to increase squat poundage. Or how many rep range to increase squat poundage.

They never realize best way to increase squat total is to DEADLIFT.
    A must.

Yup, my squats were at a stand still for some time cause my lower back couldn't handle the weight, my legs never felt that tired after a workout till I got my deads up in wieght.

Game, what do you think of using the smith for increasing free weight squats?

Thats what I've been doing, alternating free weight and smith squats and so far I beleive its helping.
    Cool

Well initially it might help. But I don't use the smith machine any longer because can't really load it up with enough weight. I do sometimes use it and put my feet out in front of me and squat for upper quads using that style.

I just think you would be better off just using the free bar both on a light day and heavy day. On heavy days squat parallel.
On lighter days bury your squat till your butt hits your ankles, go in the bucket on light days.

    Your a monster!!!

Yeah, thats how I use the smith, feet out in front. My free weight squat is at 315 for 5 reps but I go pretty deap with that, maybe I'll try more wight but just go to parallel with it. I just didn't want to get into the habbit of only going to parallel.

    Thanks for the advice game.

thanx, I didn't really make the connection. My legs really don't feel all that much from squats, more from leg press, and I can handle about 2.5 times the weight with leg press, BRING OUT YOUR DEADS!
    thanx game, scotty
