Need ab advice from those with abs

okay, I've been hitting my abs hard but still nothing. I even picked up a mag but realized that those guys probably don't do the dopie excer's in those articles.

Can anyone with good ab's please let me know what their routine is. thanks

Abs are made in the kitchen.

You have to eat properly to have abs.

If ya got a layer of fat over the abs you'll never see them!
All I basically do are ab crunchs on the floor on on a flat/incline bench.

    And....I do have abs!

I agree, diet is the key for most. (I cant talk, I bulked and still had abs.. Im weird tho..)
anyways you can do a million crunches and never see your abs. if you have a layer of fat covering it, they wont show. all I do for abs is 3 exercises about 1x week.

I think it's funny how the ab equipment is the most used of any equipment at 24 hour fitness, yet a VERY small percentage actually have a six pack...

    DIET!

I don't like training my abs with machines. I'd rather work on my stabalizers and core strength when I train abs and worry about my diet to get the six pack when needed.

Not many people believe me when I say this, but maybe the best two ab exercises for me are deadlifts and squats. Especially deadlifts, I can feel my abs working and stablizing.

I used to train my abs 3x a week, but I moved to 4x a week at a lower intensity. I do a total of 24 sets of ab exercises per week (6 sets per session). Actually, I combine the 6 sets into 3 supersets most of the time. Considering that I believe my BF% is above 15% and the top of my rectus abdominus is still visible, as well as my obliques, I think I'm doing something right...

I think crunches are boring, but to each his own. I do all of the following different ab exercises every week:

    Bicycle Crunches
    Reverse Crunches
    Lying Leg Lifts
    Hovers
    Heel Push Crunches
    Long Arm Crunches
    Vertical Leg Crunches
    Double Crunches

I saw a study that ranked crunches 11 out of 13 among the most effective ab exercises in terms of rectus and oblique stimulation...

I've seen your pictures. I'm not saying crunches don't work the abs, but there are more effective exercises out there. You have a very low body fat percentage, which is more important than what exercises you do for ab definition anyway.

Oh fine Cow...LOL I was blessed with good abs and a bad rear. go figure! LOL

I do like doign other ab stuff, just seems to make the waist too thick, so I stick with the simple basic stuff. On occ. I do use that chair thing you sit in that is a machine with weights. That's pretty good. Hell if I know the name for it.

You should try crunches on an exercise ball. That exercise is supposed to isolate the abs a lot better because you don't have to use your hip flexors as much.
